VERTU's Design Inspiration: Sherlock Holmes

VERTU's Design Inspiration: Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes is the main character in a series of detective novels written by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock Holmes is famous for his excellent reasoning ability, unique power of observation and calm analytical ability, and is known as the "king of mystery novels". Often through his observation and reasoning of details, he solves many complex cases and collaborates with his friend Dr. Watson.

The story of Sherlock Holmes has also been adapted into films, TV series, stage plays, and other forms many times, and has become one of the classic images globally. His personality and reasoning abilities made him an iconic figure in mystery fiction.

What would a Sherlock Holmes phone look like? Just as Sherlock Holmes is portrayed in detective novels, the quality of VERTU is closely linked to its unique characteristics.

In the episode of The Final Problem, Sherlock jumps from the Reichenbach Falls alongside his old enemy, Moriarty. His foe falls into the abyss but Holmes narrowly escapes death. He seems to be invincible. So when VERTU was creating its testing criteria for phone durability, we decided to call it the ‘Sherlock Test’.

This ‘high drop and roll test' puts our phones under intense pressure. We want to ensure that, just like Sherlock, they can survive any challenge. First, we expose the phones to a week of high and low temperatures at 70℃ and -5℃. Next, we drop a heavy ball bearing about one meter in height onto the phone’s screen. Finally, to test just how tough our devices are, we plunge them underwater for 30 minutes.

As a synonym for high-end luxury, it has been loved by global elites for more than 20 years and has become a symbol of the identity. VERTU offers an unrivaled experience through advanced technology, superior design, and outstanding performance, just as Sherlock solves every puzzle with his unique insights.
