Arabic calligraphy is a traditional art form in the Arab world and an important part of Islamic culture. Arabic calligraphy specifies the rules and format of the Arabic alphabet, so that each letter has a specific shape and stroke. Arabic calligraphy is characterized by its smooth, beautiful lines and ornate decoration.

The order of writing in Arabic is generally from right to left and from top to bottom, with the last letter of each line connected to the first letter of the next line, forming a continuous line. Arabic writing pays attention to the coherence of strokes and the overall sense of balance, so Arabic writing requires the writer to have high skills and artistic literacy.

Wissam is a deeply inspired and creative illustrator and calligraphic artist. His artistic career is like an abstract painting, full of rich colors and profound connotations. His illustrations are like abstract dreams, blending lines and color to create a unique visual language. These works are both emotional and poetic in a mysterious way, which makes the viewer fall into the infinite beauty of art.

Wissam collaborated with VERTU to design four bespoke Signature Touch handsets. Each carries a unique calligraphy design, which is matched with unique wallpapers for the display, echoing the design of the phone. Wissam created the original designs to honor the theme of 'love'.

In an era where contemporary art and technology are intertwined, calligraphy design and ilustration design have come to the forefront of VERTU's visual experience. Wissam Shawkat, a unique master of blending these two fields of art, became the source of creative inspiration for the 2016 Signature Touch calligraphy series. While the illustrations bring the cellphones to life, Wissam Shawkat's design incorporates a unique storyline and rich colors, creating a creative and emotional virtual space for VERTU.
