The 2023 Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide has been released! There are many changes, so take a look quickly!

The Michelin Guide, which was delayed for several months, has finally made a comeback. The complete list of the 2023 Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide was announced on April 26 at the Grand Lisboa in Macau. This marks the 15th edition of the Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide, and the format has returned to an offline ceremony from last year’s online release.

In addition to the change of venue this year, the format of the press conference has also changed. In the past, the press conference would directly announce the star-rated restaurants. This year, a small forum was also held, and industry insiders such as Mr. Ye Yinan, the owner of the Da Ban Building restaurant, and Chef Augustin Balbi of Andō were invited to discuss the new opportunities and future development of “gourmet food + tourism.”

Additionally, there has been a long-awaited change in the rankings and award settings.

A total of 95 restaurants were awarded stars in this list, including 10 three-star restaurants, 18 two-star restaurants, and 67 one-star restaurants. In addition, 4 restaurants received the Michelin Green Star award.

01 What is the change?

It is worth noting that the Samsung list, which has remained almost unchanged for many years, has experienced a significant change this year. Ta Vie from Hong Kong has been promoted from two stars to three stars. In addition, there are three new restaurants that have been awarded two stars: Bo Innovation, Jade Dragon, and Run. All of these restaurants are also from Hong Kong. Long Jing Restaurant, which has maintained three stars since 2009 and once held the honor of being the first three-star Chinese restaurant in history, has been downgraded to two stars.

In the establishment of awards, in addition to the Green Star Award with an environmental focus that was added in previous years, this year has also introduced the Best Sommelier Award, the Best Service Award, and the Best Young Chef Award among other category awards.
