UOB Visa Infinite 2026 Upgrade: New Tiers, Markets and What Cardholders Need to Do

By VERTU Concierge & Travel DeskPublished on Jul 23, 2026

UOB will upgrade selected Visa Infinite cardholders across five ASEAN markets from September 2026. See the tiers, timeline and actions required.

UOB and Visa are introducing a new three-tier Visa Infinite structure across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. UOB says more than 300,000 existing Visa Infinite cardholders will be upgraded to higher tiers, with eligible customers notified through official UOB channels from September 2026. The bank says no action is required for the automatic tier upgrade and that other cardholders will retain their existing privileges without downgrade.

The new names are Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite Privilege and Visa Infinite Private. The announcement describes broader categories of travel, dining, event and invitation-only experiences, but it does not publish one universal benefits table, annual fee or eligibility threshold for every market and UOB product.

That distinction is important. A tier name is a platform; the issuing bank and local market determine the exact card, price and benefits. Existing cardholders should wait for their UOB notice before assuming that a benefit reported in another country applies to them.

What the three-tier structure means

Visa Infinite remains the base premium platform. Visa Infinite Privilege is positioned above it with more differentiated access, including reserved entitlements to selected lifestyle offerings, concerts and global sporting events. Visa Infinite Private is the highest tier, described as offering highly personalised, invitation-only experiences for ultra-high-net-worth customers.

Those descriptions establish positioning, not a guaranteed benefit list. “Access” can mean an opportunity to purchase, a limited allocation, a ballot or a complimentary entitlement. “Invitation-only” may depend on eligibility and capacity. Always check the terms attached to the specific offer.

UOB says it will add its own curated experiences, including customised luxury travel and privileged access to series of rare timepieces. Again, availability, price and invitation criteria are not universal in the launch statement.

The practical advantage of tiers is segmentation. A frequent traveller may value airport, hotel and destination benefits; another customer may value dining or events. A single Infinite label previously had to cover a wide range of affluent customers. The new structure gives issuers more room to separate propositions.

The five-market rollout timeline

Now: verify your contact channels

Check that UOB holds your correct mobile number, email and postal address through the official app or website. Do not update details through a link in an unsolicited message.

From September: expect an official notice

UOB says eligible cardholders will be notified from September onwards. “From” indicates a progressive rollout, not one simultaneous date. A customer who hears nothing on the first day should not assume exclusion.

After notification: compare the account-specific terms

Read the new tier, effective date, card number implications, annual fee, supplementary-card treatment, rewards, lounge terms, insurance and recurring-payment instructions.

At replacement: activate securely

If a physical card is replaced, activate it through an official UOB channel. Update digital wallets and recurring merchants only when instructed. Destroy the old card after confirming the transition.

After the effective date: test benefits before relying on them

Register for required travel or event services. Check that lounge membership, concierge access or insurance eligibility is active before the journey.

What cardholders should do now

There is no need to submit a speculative application for an announced automatic upgrade. Instead:

  1. Confirm contact details through the UOB app or a manually entered official URL.

  2. Review existing card expiry and upcoming travel dates.

  3. Save the current product terms and annual-fee statement.

  4. List recurring payments and digital wallets linked to the card.

  5. Wait for an account-specific notification.

  6. Compare old and new terms line by line.

  7. Contact UOB through a number printed on the card or official site if anything conflicts.

This preparation prevents an upgrade from disrupting travel or payments.

Do not assume a new card number

The announcement does not state that every upgraded customer will receive a new number or physical card. Issuers can change product branding while retaining account details, or replace cards with different credentials.

Wait for the notice before updating merchants. Changing recurring payments early can create duplicates or failed charges. If a replacement card is issued, ask whether network token services will automatically update participating merchants and digital wallets.

For travel booked before the change, keep evidence of the original purchase and coverage terms. Some insurance benefits depend on which card paid for the journey and when.

The benefits audit

Use a consistent table when the account notice arrives.

Benefit area Existing card New tier Questions to verify
Annual fee Record current amount Record new amount Waiver rules and supplementary fees
Rewards Earn rate and caps New earn rate Merchant categories and overseas fees
Airport lounge Visits and guests New entitlement Registration, guest cost and excluded lounges
Travel insurance Coverage and activation New policy Must travel be paid in full? Age and activity exclusions?
Dining Discount or credits New programme Reservation channel, caps and blackout dates
Hotels Status, credit or offers New benefit Direct booking requirement and eligible properties
Events Existing access Privilege or Private access Complimentary, purchasable or invitation-only?
Concierge Contact and scope New service Availability, fees and fulfilment limits
Foreign transactions Current charge New charge Currency conversion and dynamic-currency rules

Do not compare only the most glamorous benefit. A higher annual fee or changed rewards cap can outweigh occasional event access.

Fraud risk will rise around the upgrade

A mass card migration gives criminals a believable story. Messages may claim that a customer must “verify the upgrade”, pay a delivery fee or enter a one-time password to avoid losing benefits.

UOB’s announcement says no action is required for eligible upgrades. That does not mean every future operational step will be automatic, but it is a strong reason to distrust urgent unsolicited requests.

Use these rules:

  • do not open a login page from a message;

  • open the UOB app independently;

  • never disclose a one-time password to “confirm” a tier;

  • do not pay a courier or activation fee through a link;

  • verify a call by ending it and using an official number;

  • report suspicious messages through the bank’s published fraud channel.

The more exclusive the message sounds, the more important independent verification becomes.

What happens to supplementary cardholders

The regional announcement does not define supplementary-card treatment. The main account may move tier while supplementary cards retain different benefits, limits or designs. Lounge and travel-insurance entitlement can also differ.

Ask whether supplementary cards will be replaced, whether their numbers change, which benefits they can use independently and whether additional fees apply. For family travel, guest and supplementary entitlements should be confirmed before reaching the airport.

Travel already booked for late 2026

If a journey overlaps the transition, keep both old and new documentation. Confirm:

  • which card credential remains valid;

  • whether a lounge account must be re-registered;

  • whether travel insurance follows purchase date or travel date;

  • whether hotel or dining reservations need a specific booking channel;

  • whether recurring deposits or guarantees remain attached to the old card.

Do not cancel and rebook an expensive journey solely to chase a newly announced benefit without written confirmation that it applies.

Should you request a higher tier?

The announcement says selected customers will be assigned upgrades. It does not create a general application right for Infinite Private or Privilege. Eligibility may reflect product, relationship, assets, spending and market rules.

If your notice offers more than one option, use annual value rather than status. Estimate benefits you will genuinely use, subtract fees and transaction costs, and discount invitation-based benefits that cannot be guaranteed.

Our Infinite Private versus Infinite Privilege comparison provides a traveller-profile framework. It deliberately marks unannounced local details rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Why UOB and Visa are doing this

UOB says affluent card billings grew more than 25% in 2025 and new affluent cardholders grew more than 10%. Visa refreshed its Asia-Pacific Infinite platform on 16 July 2026 with more segmentation.

The commercial logic is to match benefits more closely to customer value and expectations. For cardholders, segmentation can produce more relevant services. It can also make comparison harder because the same Visa tier may appear through different banks and markets with different fees and entitlements.

The issuer’s product terms remain decisive. A network tier is not a substitute for reading the bank’s agreement.

The verdict

UOB’s 2026 Visa Infinite upgrade is a large, five-market migration rather than a new card available under one universal set of terms. More than 300,000 selected customers are expected to move to higher tiers, and UOB says eligible cardholders will be notified from September with no action required for the upgrade.

For now, verify contact details, preserve current terms and ignore unsolicited “activation” requests. When the notice arrives, compare fee, rewards, lounge, insurance, event, concierge and supplementary-card terms for your exact market.

The new tier can be valuable, but the name alone is not the benefit. The account-specific terms—and whether they match how you actually travel—determine the upgrade’s real worth.
