As an authoritative restaurant rating guide, the red “Michelin Guide” (Le Guide Michelin, also known as the Michelin Guide) attracts the attention of gourmet enthusiasts from all over the world. In March of spring, the 2023 Michelin Guide has successively announced the evaluation results of Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and other countries and regions, but Hong Kong has been unusually late in releasing the list.

However, according to the latest news, the 2023 Michelin Guide ceremony for Hong Kong and Macau will be held offline, and it is expected to take place in Macau on April 26, 2023. Long Jing Restaurant is not only the first Chinese restaurant in China to receive a three-star Michelin rating, but it has also held the prestigious three-star status for fourteen consecutive years. As famous as its culinary prowess is the difficulty in securing a reservation, given that the entire restaurant only has 27 tables.

Located on the 4th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel by Victoria Harbour, diners can enjoy the culinary delights while taking in the stunning views of the harbour. Upon successfully securing a reservation and entering the restaurant, one is greeted by the dark solid wood flooring and round dining tables with white tablecloths. The decor is somewhat monochromatic, yet it exudes an old-school charm reminiscent of traditional Chinese restaurants. The menu features signature dishes and Cantonese dim sum, such as Abalone and Chicken Crispy Rolls, Steamed Dumplings with Dragon Prince, Lily and Lemongrass Perch Dumplings, Triple Pepper Beef Fillet Crispy Rolls, and Crispy Chicken, among others. Additionally, there are modern single-person business set meals that perfectly cater to the needs of solo diners who may find it challenging to order.

Star Rating: One Star, Green Star

Among the numerous Michelin restaurants in Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangzhou, this unique establishment is the first overseas branch opened by British Michelin two-star chef Simon Rogan. It stands out not only because it received a Michelin one-star rating within just 10 months but also because it has the first Michelin Green Star in Hong Kong, symbolizing sustainability.

Emphasizing sustainability, the restaurant is committed to environmental protection. Upon entering Roganic, you are greeted by tree trunk-like partitions, a ceiling with twisted roots, and green plants scattered around, all hinting at the restaurant’s connection with nature. As you move further in, you will be drawn to the large micro-greenhouse by the side, where the herbs used for the cocktails and dishes on the menu are sourced. Local ingredients that do not require air transport give seemingly ordinary cocktails, Sanhuang chicken, snapper, and bread pudding a unique flavor.

Long Jingxuan

8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo-Bombana, which has received the only Michelin three-star honor outside of Italy, has a very low-key appearance. Even the Michelin three-star plaque is not deliberately hung up, but only a three-star logo is pasted on the glass wall. The unique style is like the chef – Umberto Bombana. In addition to being passionate about cooking, Bombana is also very fond of movies, so the restaurant is named after his favorite Italian famous director Federico Fellini’s 1963 autobiographical film “8 1/2”.

Here, the food is full of Italian charm, and the menu lists many classic Italian dishes, including the must-try handmade pasta and seasonal limited dishes. In addition, there is a signature ingredient of the restaurant – white truffle. Bombana, who is known as the “King of Truffles,” insists on using the best ingredients and pays great attention to the taste of the raw materials. When the season comes, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo-Bombana is crowded with people, just because everyone doesn’t want to miss the season to taste Alba white truffle.

“Shi Hun”, which means the spirit of challenge, is the only overseas branch of the three-star Michelin sushi restaurant “Sushi Yoshitake” in Tokyo, and it is also the only Japanese restaurant among the three-star Michelin restaurants in Hong Kong. Moreover, Shi Hun has been awarded the three-star Michelin honor continuously from 2014 to 2022. It is believed that no one would disagree that Shi Hun is the No.1 Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong.

Shi Hun provides a typical Tokyo sushi experience and the most authentic Edomae sushi for diners who cannot go to Japan in person.
