“This group exhibition presents a wide and diverse creative perspective of young artists, reflecting the artistic practice with the spirit of the times and the individual’s profound insight into social issues. We are very happy to see the practice and growth of these young people. Their exploration is not only the pursuit of their own artistic creation, but also the foundation and hope for the sustainable development of Chinese contemporary art. The establishment of Porsche’s” Biennial Selection of Chinese Young Artists “is to encourage these young artists to innovate boldly and bravely pursue their dreams, so as to bring more new thinking and avant-garde perspectives to Chinese contemporary art.” Ms. Tang Fengliang, vice president of public relations of Porsche China media, said.

“This year is the seventh year that we have joined hands with Porsche to create the ‘Biennial Selection of Chinese Young Artists’, and as a partner organization and an important platform for hosting group exhibitions of artists, ART021 has always been concerned about the fate and development of young artists. As an art fair brand, we hope to promote the development of local cutting-edge art in our own way, and are willing to support and help more young artists with potential and creativity.” Ms. Ying Qinglan, co-founder of ART021 Shanghai 21 Contemporary Art Fair, JINGART Art Fair Beijing and DnA SHENZHEN Design and Art Fair, said.

New media artist Hanwei Lee’s work focuses on space intrusion and information overload in the digital world, presenting the spiritual situation faced by contemporary people as barren as the wilderness through the multi-level expressive creations of “60 Million Dollar Man”, “Practice”, “Asian Squat (Gray Emphasis)” and “Liquid Health.

Li Ming, who is also a new media artist, uses the timeliness of the media of his works to examine the logic of digital images and material circulation. He uses “Ghosts on the Screen” to bring the audience’s eyes to the distance and transform the screen into adventures in the wilderness. Another of his works, Toes, leads people back to the wilderness in their hearts, listening to the call of the id and connecting different realities.

The performance artist Tong Wenmin’s “Brush”, “Temperature”, “Stone” and “Plant Specimen Literature” all present a fascinating physical creative process, exploring the relationship between the body and nature, creativity and challenge with the instinct and power inspired by the wilderness.

“In the process of communicating with each artist, I felt the wind from the wilderness-a new energy that changed the world. The wind is sometimes gentle and sometimes wild, and as we enter a new era, we need new paths for artists to explore.” Curator Dr. Shen Qilan said. “I appreciate the perseverance and bravery of these artists very much. The wilderness promises the unknown and danger, and at the same time presents courage and vastness. I hope that through this exhibition, we can inspire everyone’s courage to become actors together with artists, to enjoy and to become the wind of the wilderness. The world is so vast.”

During the art fair, Porsche also brought two special exhibition works. Taycan Turbo S Ding Yi’s “Ten Shows” Customization has arrived in Shanghai full of humanistic feelings since its appearance in Chengdu in August, presenting Porsche’s unlimited potential in exploring the field of sports car artistic expression. Taycan Turbo S Ding Yi’s “Ten Shows” customization perfectly integrates technology and art, giving this “mobile artwork” a new life and meaning with a unique perspective and innovation. The details of the “Ten Shows 2022-2” painting on the car body show extraordinary artistic tension and reverie of the universe, which forms a clever dialogue with the passion and sustainable concept represented by Taycan Turbo S, and explains Porsche’s extreme pursuit of innovation and nature.

In addition, young artist Zhu Shikun’s new outdoor installation art project “SH ALL WE TALK” also appeared in the exhibition in the form of video. “SH ALL WE TALK” was conceived in 2017 and realized in Kuqa-Baicheng area of Xinjiang in September this year. The artist drives a Taycan to the no-man’s land, shooting, stopping, observing and perceiving along the way, restoring and presenting the feeling experience of people in nature to the maximum extent in the way that images finally surpass images. Zhu Shikun’s creation leads the audience to have a sincere dialogue with the real nature and explore the scale of the wilderness, so as to rethink the link between human beings and the natural world, and provide new perspectives and inspiration for sustainable development.
